What are SPS goods?

SPS (Sanitary and Phytosanitary) goods are categorised into:

• animal and
• animal products,
• plants and
• plant products and
• composite products containing both animal and plant products.

Most SPS products are liable to inspection, either on a risk basis or for each consignment. The most stringent controls apply to food for human consumption.
