Dear All,

Please find a short summary of today’s member’s meeting led by Tony:

• New members joined after the previous meeting: Timothy Lyons, Armin Belle. Two applications received: Vytautas Magnus University (corporate membership) and Annette Reiser. Momchil previously informed about the interest of Academy of Economics – Svishtov, Bulgaria to join. Tony confirmed interest from University of Limerick to join. Tony raised the question that we should specify to what the students get access, it was agreed that CKC forum and CCRM journal, further suggestions to be raised and discussed.
• Upcoming Members’ webinars, the nearest on 4th April. We discussed that it would be great, if the knowledge shared could be summarised in articles to be published in CCRM, if speakers would wish to do this. Looking for SPEAKERS who would wish to do 15 min. presentation on the next Members’ webinar on 4th May (please write on the forum or to Neringa community@customsknowledgeinstitute.org). We agreed that the series of these webinars could be called ‘Day-to-day customs and trade compliance management’ and the main theme of the three presentations could become the title of the webinar.
• Legal news. Tony shared about the Windsor framework and that there was an excellent webinar on that yesterday by the Institute of Export & International Trade. Suggestion: to share information about free webinars organised by members in forum. Enrika shared about a recent CJEU case where Harley-Davidson lost the Binding Origin Information and had to pay anti-dumping duty because shifting production from USA to Thailand to avoid paying is ‘processing or working operations which are not economically justified’ https://curia.europa.eu/juris/document/document.jsf?text=customs&docid=270786&pageIndex=0&doclang=EN&mode=req&dir=&occ=first&part=1&cid=963197#ctx1

Herewith I’d like to share the summary of CKC members meeting on Feb 28. Attendees: Barbara, Bianca, Boryana, Gary, Momchil, Neringa, Zandra, Tony, Enrika. We agreed that the next meeting could be arranged after a webinar again. Suggested agenda:

• Meeting new members;
• Sharing thoughts/ know-how on the topic of the webinar; topics for the future webinars (suggestions: authorisations, simplified procedures, different legal interpretations, blockchain); discussing what could be result of the webinar – maybe a statement, research, etc.;
• Legal news and other updates from our countries.

Today we had a discussion with Zandra and Tony, the speakers of the webinar on Tuesday (Feb 28, 12:00-13:00 CET) https://exsitec6.sg-host.com/news/webinar-eu-uk-tca-updates-on-the-origin-of-goods/

We would like to invite CKC members to have a short 30 min. meeting after the webinar (13:00-13:00). The main goal would be to meet each other. Besides that we could also exchange thoughts/experience on the topic of the webinar (origin of goods).
